You are eligible to open an international brokerage account if you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and do not have a Social Security number. At present, international account is only available for residents of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong only. Additional countries may be available soon.

No. International account can only be established by international investors. US Residents cannot open an account with international investors.

Complete the application and IRS W-8BEN form for non-U.S. residents. Please go to Scottrade's Form Center to download these forms.
b). 在"國際帳戶申請表"與"W-8BEN表"表格底頁簽名。
Sign the application and W-8BEN forms.
注意!"W-8BEN表"不適用於:非美國居民本年度在美國居住超過183天(含183天),但持有F,J,M,Q簽證者不在此限。
Note: Do not use the W-8BEN form for a U.S. nonresident alien physically present in the U.S. for 183 days or more during the present calendar year. Exemption: Individuals holding an "F," "J," "M"or "Q" visa should use this form.
c). 附上護照內頁所有申請人照片、簽名、個人資料影本。
Provide a copy of the inside pages of your passport, including photo, signature and personal information.

If you don't have a passport, provide a a signed copy of your resident card.

Yes, you can fax or email the application documents to Scottrade Asia Pacific Service Center to open account. If your account is established using faxed or emailed documents, we do ask you to send in the original documents as soon as possible. Before we receive your original documents, you can log into your online account and deposit funds, but you cannot place trades.

How soon do I need to deposit funds into my account after the account is established?

You must deposit funds into your account within 1 month after your account is established, otherwise, your account will be closed. If for some specific reason, you are not able to deposit funds within the said period, please contact us before the due date to keep your account. Once your account is closed, you will need to resubmit application forms in order to establish a new account with Scottrade.

No. The check can only be made payable to the account holders and must be mailed to your address. Also, Scottrade can wire funds to the account holders' bank accounts only.

After wiring funds or sending a check, how soon will the money appear in my account?

Usually your will see the money in your account within 24 hours. Wiring funds from outside the U.S. may take up to one week. Your check will be held until the funds are cleared or for ten business days (whichever occurs first). If you deposit money order or cashier's check (payer must have an ABA number and we do not accept demand draft), the funds will be available for trading on the next business day.

We do not withhold capital gains tax for international accounts, but we do withhold dividend tax: 10% for China, 30% for Taiwan and 30% for Hong Kong. Also, we will provide a 1042-S for tax purposes each year. For more tax information, please contact your tax consultant.

How do I transfer my account from another company to Scottrade?
您可以將其它美國證券公司的股票與現金轉移到史考特證券, 您只需填寫"帳戶移轉表"，並附上轉出公司最近的月結單，寄到史考特證券，史考特證券將為您完成餘下的工作；您無需擔憂與其它公司聯繫的事宜。移轉所需時間因不同公司而不定，通常約1至4週。(共同基金 不能轉入史考特證券國際帳戶)
Currently, you can transfer stocks and cash from other brokerage firm to Scottrade. We do not charge any fees to transfer an account into Scottrade. Simply fill out our Account Transfer Form, and send it along with your most recent statement from the other firm. Scottrade will do the rest. It could take one to four weeks to finish the transfer (Mutual funds cannot be transferred into Scottrade’s International accounts).

I moved from the U.S. to another country. Can I transfer my domestic account to an international account?

Scottrade does not accept restricted stocks, nor help customers on releasing their restricted stocks. All stocks deposited to Scottrade must be cleared to sell in the US stock market without restrictions.
